Works perfectly. Easy to assemble. Light weight and portable. The pole holder actually snaps onto the base to make it easy to keep together. Adjustable collar for the pole holder was very helpful. Because the pole was short didn't need to fill w/water in the pictured example. But using water to weight it is certainly a feature for taller poles. Great product.
This plastic base has a screw on/off plastic plug. It needs to be filled with water or sand to give it weight. I filled it with water and then added some bleach inside to keep the inside fresh over time. It holds my six foot flagpole well in winds. It has a built in handle for easier transport. I can see how this can also hold a small umbrella at the pool, campsite, or on the driveway for home auto mechanics. Additionally, this could hold a pole for pool volleyball but of course two would need be purchased. Although, I would not use this for large/heavy umbrellas.
I requested and received for free this Base Stand two weeks ago to test it and give my honest opinion. I've tried it out over the past four days and here are my first impressions. LARGE, light when empty, about 40 pounds when filled with water. I had this outside empty the day before I went to set it up with our new patio umbrella. It had rained the night before and when I went to pick it up there was water sloshing around in it. I could not figure out how water got into the sealed base and this worried me that there had to be a leak somewhere in the construction. I filled it half way, no leaks anywhere, I fill it completely, no leaks. I'm not certain how water got into it from the rain, but there were no leaks with water getting out or problems when I filled it. Recommend.. We will be using water instead of sand because it is all around easier to fill and empty when using water.
This pole stand is fairly simple and effective. It easily fills with water or sand to provide a stable base. Filled with water it weighs slightly less than 50 lbs. It is heavy but moveable. (You can also dump some of the water to make it easier to move.)
The pole is held by a simple mechanism that clamps down. I have a 1" pole, but as stated it can handle a range of sizes. Between the weight and mechanism, the base is solid and substantial.
I originally obtained this as a base for an umbrella, but am currently using it to hold up a video bird feeder. It is easy to use and versatile.
Good flag base or small umbrella base. Smaller/lighter than a regular umbrella stand. Screw cap access to fill with water or sand. Short post stores underneath and fits snugly in the middle. There‘s a compression locking nut thing that screws onto the post to lock the pole in place.
